The 2022 vintage began with plenty of winter rains, which replenished the groundwater reserves and prepared the vines for the formation of healthy and strong crowns. Early rainfall during the spring and helped strengthen the vine canopy. Warm days contrasted with a long period of frost, and adverse weather during flowering led to uneven fruit size in some areas. In the summer months the weather warmed up and the rate of ripening accelerated. Thanks to the strong canopy and warm weather, ripening was fairly even and the excellent flavour was evident from the start. Harvesting started early to preserve freshness.
On the palate, the 2022 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir shows classic notes of cherry and cola along with grapefruit and cardamom. A broad and generous wine whose layered mid-palate tannin structure leads to a lively, bright finish.
