Far Niente
Far Niente Winery was founded in 1885 by John Benson in Oakville, Napa Valley. The thriving winery closed due to Prohibition in 1919 and was restored to its glory by Gil Nickel, who purchased it 60 years later, reviving its glory. He also kept the original name Far Niente, which means "without care" in Italian. To this day, the wines of the Far Niente winery are regarded as the benchmark of the Napa Valley region, and the winery as such is one of the best in the world.
