OVID.
OVID Winery was established in the hills around one of the best vineyard sites within Napa Valley, Pritcherd Hill. This terroir is unique because of its volcanic bedrock with a high iron content, as well as its ideal elevation of around 400 meters, which contributes to the ideal microclimate in the vineyards.
The winery is named after the Roman poet Ovid, who through his poems introduced the main philosophy of this winery, tradition, excellence, discipline, rigor and observation.
The winery produces 4 varietal wines from a 15 hectare vineyard, which is planted in one hectare blocks with different combinations of clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah.
In 2017, OVID's founders, Mark Nelson and Dana Johnson, decided to partner with David Duncan of the now legendary Silver Oak winery. Together, they are discovering the beauty and potential of the Pritcherd Hill terroir and sharing the know-how, technology and dedication to the sheer quality of their wines.
