Hess Persson Estates
Hess Persson Estates is a family-owned winery from California’s Napa Valley, founded in 1978 by Donald Hess on the mountain slopes of Mount Veeder. He was one of the pioneers of high-altitude viticulture, believing that volcanic soils and the cooler mountain microclimate create elegant and complex wines. Today, the next generation of the Hess family continues this legacy, focusing on luxury wines from mountain vineyards and sustainable winemaking practices.
The winery specializes mainly in rich and structured red wines, especially Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its intense fruit character, firm tannins, and excellent aging potential. They also produce Malbec with notes of blackberry, cocoa, and spice, Bordeaux-style blends, as well as elegant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their portfolio includes labels such as The Hess Collection, Lion Tamer, and Panthera, combining richness, elegance, and the distinctive terroir of Napa Valley.
