Smith-Madrone Vineyards
Family winery of three Smiths and one tree Madrone. Part of the name is dedicated to famous tree Madrone which is typical in Mountain District in Napa Valley.
Winery is located in the hills of Mayacamas and i tis complex of old barn with barrels and incredibly beautiful vineyards leaning towards to Napa Valley. When you got lucky, you can arrange a meeting and Sam will take you through the vineyards in the buggy and together with their Chardonnay in the glass, there will be immortal experience. We don´t recommend to go there as a firts visit because i tis truly high level and spiritual experience. Sam, who is assitant winemaker today, worked as a sommelier and in cellars all over the world, in New Zealand and Germany for example. You can guess why their Riesling is so good. But the best coming. Their elegant Chardonnay and truly sophisticated Cabernet Sauvignon can be compared to the best Crus of left bank Bordeaux.
If you were not believers there is any terroir in Napa Valley, just go to this winery and see whole valley under the fog in the morning and feel the spirit of the place.
