One day Dave Phinney went to Florence for a semester, where he fell in love with wine. Upon his return back to California, he worked in the vineyards and at the Robert Mondavi winery. In 1998, his own winery, Orin Swift, named for his father's middle name and his mother's maiden name, saw the light of day. Dave himself says his first wine sucked, the second was better and the rest is history. Today, you can taste Dave's wines in our tasting package and see for yourself that the exact opposite is true today, and Dave's wines are among California's top productions.

The wine is dark crimson in colour with violet highlights. Aromas of dark berries, blueberries, plums and wild raspberries dominate on the nose, accompanied by notes of ground coffee beans, spices and eucalyptus and cedar.

The wine is golden in colour. On the nose and in the taste the wine is opulent and seductive at the same time. Notes of yellow apples, citrus, jasmine, cream and baked brioche predominate. The wine has zesty acidity and a very long and smooth, mineral finish.

The wine has a medium ruby colour with brick reflections. Aromas of cherries, rosehips, raspberries, ripe strawberries and spices predominate on the nose and palate. The wine has tangy acidity, well-integrated tannins and a long, elegant finish.
