A deep ruby color. Intense aromas of blackberries, black currants, fennel, dry chaparral, tobacco leaves, crushed stone, and toasted oak. On the palate, rich notes of blackberries and black currants, smooth tannins, and a full body. Natural acidity gives way to a long finish with limestone minerality.
The year 2022 was another dry year with spring rains that were barely enough for the vines to survive the season. Two droughts, one in late July and the other in August, forced an early harvest. This classic Monte Bello will continue to evolve for the next twenty to twenty-five years.
