The 2018 Hillside Select is a very rich and energetic wine based on the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. The wine has an attractive nose of blackberry, black cherry, sweet spice and black earth.

The flagship of the Shafer winery. Wine from the top vineyards of Shafer Winery. The wine has a deep ruby colour. On the nose the wine is intense with dominant notes of dark berry fruit, spice and graphite. On the palate, the wine is structured with expressive notes of mulberries, blackberries and cassis complemented by notes of freshly cut pencil, forest floor and cedar. The wine has firm, ripe tannins, tangy expressive acidity and a very long and spicy finish. A wine that can age very well in bottle.

The very good 2019 vintage gave grapes that made a wine of dark ruby color with violet reflections. On the nose the wine is intense with notes of dark fruit, spice and smoked paprika. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with ripe aromas of black fruit, mulberries and blackberries, complemented by notes of dark olive, spice and clove. The firm but ripe tannins along with the zesty acidity predispose the wine to long bottle age. Long and spicy finish.
