Elegant and smooth Cabernet Sauvignon

The near perfect 2012 vintage from start to finish gave a wine balanced and ripe in aroma. Black berry fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant, leather and violets dominate on the nose and palate. The wine is full-bodied and rich with soft tannins, attractive acidity and a very long spicy finish.

Dark ruby in color, the Oakville Cabernet opens with aromas of sweet vanilla and allspice, followed by black currants, ripe plums and a savory hint of anise seed. The palate has a smooth entry, building to a big, full mouthfeel with firm tannins a juicy, crisp acidity. Dark fruits flood the mid-palate in waves of blackberry and cassis. The finish is pleasantly dry and slightly spicy.

The dense deep purple color hints at the intensity in this wine. Aromas of sweet vanilla and pie spice layered over black cherries dominate the nose, accompanied by cassis, red plum and a savory touch of sarsaparilla root. The round, rich entry builds quickly to a full structured mouthfeel with consistent acidity. There is a clean, elegant progression of ripe black cherry, black currant, and juicy dark plum, finishing with clove and vanilla, a hint of marzipan and a trickle of cherry juice. The big structure of this wine should have it drinking well into 2040 or beyond.
