Every great bottle of wine has a story behind it – the soil, the people, and the decisions made years before the first sip. For the three wineries at the heart of our collection, these stories are especially compelling. Meet Orin Swift, Rombauer Vineyards, and Chateau Montelena – three Napa Valley icons whose wines we ship directly from Prague across Europe.
Orin Swift is a winery that plays by its own rules. Founder Dave Phinney named the label after his parents: Orin is his father's middle name, Swift is his mother's maiden name. That personal touch runs through everything the winery does – each wine carries its own distinct visual identity, story, and character that goes far beyond the contents of the bottle.
Based in Napa Valley, every flagship Orin Swift wine is as much an artistic statement as it is a winemaking achievement.

The story of Rombauer Vineyards begins not only with wine but also with the kitchen. Koerner and Joan Rombauer are descendants of the author of the legendary American cookbook Joy of Cooking – and that philosophy of joy at the table is woven into everything they do. When they founded their winery in 1980 in St. Helena, Napa Valley, they had a clear vision: wines that belong at the dinner table and bring genuine pleasure.
Their Rombauer Chardonnay became one of the most recognized American white wines. Full-bodied and buttery, with notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and tropical fruit – a style that captured American palate and has since achieved cult status worldwide. Today, the winery is in the hands of the third generation of the Rombauer family, who continue its tradition of warmth, hospitality, and signature style.

Some stories change an entire industry. The story of Chateau Montelena is one of them. The estate is located in Calistoga in northern Napa Valley, where significant diurnal temperature swings give the wines their natural freshness and structure. But it was what happened on May 24, 1976, that put Chateau Montelena on the world map.
That day, a blind tasting took place in Paris, now known as the Judgment of Paris, pitting France's finest wines against a selection from California. French sommeliers and critics judged anonymously. The result? Chateau Montelena's Chardonnay took first place, ahead of Burgundy's finest white wines. It was a shock to the wine world and a defining moment for California wine on the global stage.
Today, Chateau Montelena continues its terroir-driven philosophy – allowing the land and climate speak for themselves, with minimal intervention in the cellar. Their wines are known for exceptional longevity; many vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon improve and evolve for 20+ years.
